This week’s Parisian door is a little different. Instead of being external and ornately decorated, this one can be found at the dark end of an hallway at Hotel La Louisiane in the city’s popular Saint-Germain-des-Près area.
The first time I encountered this door, it gave me a fright. There I was minding my own business, lugging my suitcase down the dimly hallway in search of my room after a long sleepless overnight flight from Vancouver. Suddenly a creepy man appeared in front of me.
After my initial confusion, the door became a beacon letting me know I was on the correct floor. I’m much better at quickly adjusting European floors to those here in North America (our 1st floor is their ground floor, our 2nd floor is their 1st floor, and so on..) but it wasn’t always so easy for me.
Thursday Doors is a weekly feature allowing door lovers to come together to admire and share their favorite door photos from around the world. Feel free to join in on the fun by creating your own Thursday Doors post each week and then sharing your link in the comments section over at Norm’s blog, anytime between Thursday morning and Saturday noon (North American eastern time).
