B is for .. Bayeux Cathedral

In this installation of my biweekly Alphabet series, I’m sharing with you some photos taken at Bayeux Cathedral – or Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Bayeux.

After parking our rental car and making our way to check-in at our hotel, it’s quite possible that I was almost hit by a car or two. Or maybe not. I really don’t know, because I was in my own little world staring over my shoulder in awe of the Cathedral’s impressive green topped tower.

After sharing my very excited impression with the hotel manager, he said with a smile, “I have changed your room. Come with me.”

Our room, situated up what felt like the top of 13,000 stairs, was awkwardly laid out with a slanted ceiling that we hit our heads on several times during our stay. But none of this mattered because we had been booked into the room with the view.

I could have stayed standing there staring out the window for hours. But we didn’t travel all his way to stay in our hotel room. So after quickly dropping our bags off I practically dragged my boyfriend to the Cathedral so I could see it up close and personal.

The outside is stunning, and the interior did not let us down either.

Countless sculptures and art decorate the Cathedral, and if I was knowledgeable about such things I could explain them to you.

Light coming through the stain glass window panels painted the church with rainbows.

If you’d like to see my album of photos taken at Bayeux Cathedral, you can find them here. Be forewarned though, I took lots.

Bonne journée!
