In a city where free things to do are few and far between, checking out the impressive ceiling of the Bellagio lobby is one of my favourite things to do in Las Vegas.
If you follow my other blog, you’ll remember my visit to Chihuly Garden & Glass in February. Dale Chihuly is a world renowned Master glass artist, and one of his most famous works is the Fiori di Como at the Bellagio Hotel.
Located in the hotel’s lobby, over 2000 brightly coloured hand blown glass flowers hover overhead. Dale Chihuly is reported to have said this work is a representation of Italian Fields in the spring.
The entire work weighs over 40,000 pounds, and was commissioned by Steve Wynn for the hotel’s opening in 1998. I absolutely love it, and don’t mind the sore neck I get from staring upwards to get a better look.
