Exploring the grounds of Château de Fontainebleau takes sustenance, so why not do as we did and have a picnic in the pretty park setting?
We stopped at a grocery store in Fontainebleau en route to the Château, after having disembarked the bus at the nearby station. Once we arrived at the Château, we headed through a side gate into the grounds and followed the trail to the water’s edge.
We set up our picnic looking across at the Château before digging in.
It was a lovely experience; very peaceful and relaxing. Our picnic lunch definitely prepared us for when we headed inside to wander from gorgeous room to gorgeous room.
If you’re interested in reading about our picnic supplies, I wrote a post about it here.
Bonne journée!

Congratulations! I din’t know you could picnic at Fontainebleau. So many rules and interdictions now in France…
Nice blog. I’ll be back.

I asked a staffer just to be sure and he said it wouldn’t be a problem. Rather than heading inside we took the entrance to the grounds just to the right (I believe) of reception. I highly recommend it.

Point well taken. (Also always ask permission in France. If it is not authorized, it probably is forbidden) 😉
Fontainebleau is on my list. Can you believe I’ve never seen it? (So Typically French!)

With so many of the lawns in Paris parks being off limits, we wanted to ask to be sure. There’s nothing worse than being called a stupid tourist in a language you can’t understand! 😋 Definitely visit Fontainebleau. It’s gorgeous and rich in history, without all the craziness of Versailles crowds. Next month I’m visiting Chantilly and am really looking forward to it!

Chantilly is another castle I haven’t seen. (So many…) I do recommend Malmaison, if you have the chance.

Hey this is kinda of off topic but I was wondering if blogs use WYSIWYG editors or if you have to manually code with HTML. I’m starting a blog soon but have no coding experience so I wanted to get guidance from someone with experience. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
