The weather forecast for this weekend was dismal. So when the rains tapered off yesterday and there was a tiny hint of sunshine, I threw on my coat, grabbed my wallet and headed out the door. I had no idea where I’d end up. I just needed to get out of the house.
Perhaps because I’ve just finished reading a book set in Paris, or maybe it’s because I am gearing up for a return trip there next month.. for whatever reason, I ended up at Faubourg.
I ordered myself a tea and quickly scanned the glass display case looking for whatever jumped out at me most. Not an easy decision to make, let me tell you! In the end I selected Blueberry & Earl Grey Lavender Opera.
Layers of blueberry infused almond sponge cake, blueberry jam, lavender earl grey ganache, finished with a blueberry gelée.
So. Much. Yum.
I’ve been bingeing past seasons of The Great British Bake Off, so I’ve seen how difficult it is to make something with so many thin layers with each layer having its own distinct flavour. It was very impressive.
I’m looking forward to returning, as I’ve got my heart set on trying the cruffin. Yep, that’s right. A croissant muffin hybrid. Slurp.
Bonne journée!
Marla
Have a great trip to Paris next month! (I’m going there over Easter for a few days.)
